Multihulls Weekend 2010
Multihull Race 2010
Report by Wil Pretty
Triumph and Pussy Galore from Benfleet met up with the three Hoo Ness Tri’s and Carat 24 from the Medway in Stangate Creek for lunch on the Saturday.
The four tri’s rafted up on Chica’s anchor.
It was a good choice of weekend, the weather was fine with a gentle F2 from the East, in addition the Medway Sailing Barge match was taking place and the Medway was full of Sailing Barges.
The race on Saturday afternoon was a mass start from Stangate and although Sunny and Pinafore were first over the line, the two (nearly) identical Telstars did better on handicap. Chica showed her better pointing capability by leading at the windward mark. However, Triumph showed a much superior downwind performance and ended up passing Chica and finished about 100 metres in front at the finish line.
We all retired to the Hoo Ness Clubhouse for the evening. The Lamb Shank was the most popular menu choice and it was washed down with Spitfire ale.
The race on the Sunday was a pursuit race and the Multis were joined by Jemima the Firefly and by seven Hoo Ness monohulls racing in the Spring Series. The handicaps proved to be about right as all the boats converged at the finish time. The race was to windward and therefore Chica managed to hold off Triumph this time.
The four Tri’s rafted in Stangate for lunch again and Triumph was awarded the bottle of wine prize as overall winner.
