Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Hoo Ness Yacht Club
A Sailpast and Salute to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Hoo Ness Yacht Club was held on the River Medway on 21st October 2006. The flagship was Brian and Ines Hayes yacht Elysium and the salute was taken by the Commodore, Barry Francis and his wife Pat, suitably dressed as Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton and accompanied by their family. The saluting club yachts made their way past the flagship, moored by buoy 31, and Tony Cottis responded to their salutes with discharges of the Club’s guns from Elysium.
The saluting members’ yachts were Ceynew, Chaseaway II, Chica, Comus, Deben Star, Dolphin, Ember, Emily Two, Eveela, Flying Glass, Gee Bee Jay, Goodwill, Heron, Ignis, Jezebel, Kailani, Little Wing, Lucia, Maia, Maybird, Misty, Mischief, Manishi, Orion, Reve D’Or, Ruffian, St. Jarna II, Seraka, Seran, Sisu, Stray Cat, Sunny, Tinks and Veronique, together with club work boats Bracken and Heather, and Henry Stedman rowing a dinghy.
