Racing Results 2013

The first races of the Autumn series were held on Saturday.
There was a gusty NW wind all day which meant that there was little tacking needed for both races.
It was sunny but the wind felt cold.
Woodstock Hi showed the rest of us the rewards of a mid season scrub off.
The next races are on Sunday 15th .
You are still in with a chance for the series even if you missed these as there are 4 races remaining and only 3 races count.
Aurai (Jane) won the ladies bowl and Aurai also won the Gunshot trophy.

The Prudence race on Saturday was one of the best attended in recent years with 6 entrants including 1 guest from Segas. Since it was a NE we had the wind on the nose all the way to Blacktail Spit.

Somehow we managed to pick a day in the longest heatwave since 2006 when it was downright cold and was definitely coat and waterproof weather. It was a very competitive race with 3 of the boats within 100M at Blacktail Spit.

We rafted up at Harty Ferry overnight and returned through the bridge on Sunday morning together with 7 boats from the Southend combined clubs race who had anchored with us at Harty.

Chica, now owned by Bert Evers from the Netherlands joined in the Races as a guest with Wil Pretty as crew.

Race 1 wind was Variable F0. We all drifted down river, dodging the mooring buoys on a pleasant sunny day.

Physeline drifted better than the rest of us and won easily. Chica just beat Sputnik for 2nd.

We all rafted up in Stangate on Physeline's anchor. On the way there we spotted a couple of porpoises.

The wind picked up nicely for the afternoon race.

Chica took the lead by using her spinnaker. However once it was taken down, Physeline started gaining and just passed Chica in the last minute.
